This is an exciting collaboration between the award-winning Arc Circus ensemble and internationally renowned First Nations Yugambeh Elder, Luther Cora and the incredible Yugambeh Dancers to create a living, breathing work of art that tells the powerful dreamtime story of how the birds got their colours.

The central narrative of this performance is Luther Cora's interpretation ofthe traditional First Nations story, "How the Birds Got Their Colours." The message is clear: while we may appear different, communicate differently, and have unique perspectives, at the core, we share more in common than we have differences.

A stunning fusion of storytelling and movement

How the birds got their colours, is an awe-inspiring and dynamic, Indigenous-led, site-specific contemporary performance piece fusing traditional First Nations dance and storytelling, contemporary circus, and living human sculpture, performed outside on the red earth or the beach as the sun sets.

How the Birds got their Colours is a project designed to forge connections with the land, sea, and sky. It aims to connect the audience to the essence of the place through art and culture, sharing a significant First Nations story, strengthening relationships, and fostering connections among the participating artists and arts workers.

This powerful performance also serves the purpose of educating, exciting, and inspiring audiences, encouraging open-mindedness, and sparking meaningful conversations.
